LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF PART ONE

Grace and peace to you. Here is the word for today.

📖Psalm 139: 13-15 ” For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.”📖

✍We live in a world where people are looking for love and people to love them.  And the more we do so,  the more we are heartbroken and disappointed leading to self-hatred. In this week’s devotions, I want to encourage you to start to learn how to love yourself. If you are not able to give yourself the love that you so truly deserve and need, how are you going to give it to another?  Many people were not loved like they should have been during their childhood and into adulthood. If this was the case for you, how would you know how to love yourself? Start a new recording in your head that you are beautiful and perfect no matter what you look like and what kind of body you have. This will not be easy, but starting a positive dialogue with yourself is going to be a first step. Get rid of that self judgment.
✍Learn to shut the chatter off from the outside world and love yourself for who you are today is what’s important. The fact is that there is no perfect and everybody was created differently. So to have a successful faith life, you have to start with  learning to love yourself. This does not mean we are worshiping ourselves or being narcissistic. God does not want us to go through our lives filled with hate, disappointment, or insecurities about ourselves. God has created us perfectly in His image. In this day and age, it is difficult not to compare ourselves to others or the idea of what we should look like. God designed you and made you perfectly the way you are, and He loves you just that way.
✍Loving yourself  means that you accept yourself fully, treat yourself with kindness and respect, and nurture your growth and wellbeing. Loving yourself encompasses not only how you treat yourself but also your thoughts and feelings about yourself. So, when you conceptualize self-love, you can try to imagine what you would do for yourself, how youd talk to yourself, and how youd feel about yourself that reflects love and concern.
✍When you love yourself, you have an overall positive view of yourself. This doesnt mean you feel positive about yourself all the time. That would be unrealistic! For example, I can temporarily feel upset, angry, or disappointed with myself and still love myself. If this is confusing, think about how this works in other relationships. I can love my wife, children even though I sometimes feel angry or disappointed with them in one thing or the other. Even in the midst of my anger and disappointment, my love for them informs me how to relate and react to them. It allows me to forgive them easily, consider their  feelings, meet their needs, and make decisions that will support their wellbeing. Loving yourself  is very much the same. Which means, if you know how to love others, you know how to love yourself!

🛐🛐🛐May the Lord fill you with His love , and may you enjoy this love in Jesus Name. Amen!🙏🙏🙏
