Grace and peace to you. Here is the word for today.
đź“–Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]? [AMP]đź“–
↪ The Bible has a lot to say about our motives. A motive is an underlying reason for any action whether proper or improper. Proverbs 16:2 says, “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD.” Because the human heart is very deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9), we can easily fool ourselves about our own motives, but God can not be fooled by our selfishness and because He is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
🔶️Disadvantages of improper motives🔶️
â–ŞImproper motives causes us to COMPROMISE the values that were meant to guide us to do right things.
â–ŞImproper motives cause us to be SEPARATED from Gods presence because it’s sin.
â–ŞImproper motives cause us to be separated from Gods FAVOR.
â–ŞImproper motives cause us to be LESS than what we could have been with Gods favor.
â–ŞImproper motives cause us to be doomed to TEMPORARY successes that will not be seen in eternity.
â–ŞImproper motives can cause us to be DOOMED eternally after judgment.
↪ God is so much concerned about our inward conversion which in turn is reflected outwardly. God wants us to clean up our minds, our thoughts, our attitudes, our approach, and if we do it’s going to be reflected outward. Psalm 26:2 says, “Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind.” One of the best ways to keep your motives pure is to ask God to show you the real reasons you do the things you do. Because when you consider your motives before taking action, you are most likely to act in a way that honors God with the help of the Holy Spirit. AMEN 🙏🙏🙏
